CHURCH AND MINISTRY

(with GregTrainor)

COURSE SUMMARY

This course unit aims to enable students to develop an ecclesiology of the “local church” and to understand the impact of global and local cultural changes and the challenges they present to local church life. It also examines key aspects of ministry such as leadership, discipleship, and values, and what importance they play.

The unit also seeks to equip students with practical ministry skills to be used in partnership with the leading of God’s Spirit.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:

  2. Critically review the role of mission in today’s church with particular reference to its implementation in a changing cultural context

  3. Examine and understand the importance of church planting and several other key areas of ministry and how to facilitate them

  4. Design a program for your local church or ministry (e.g. church planting, raising and releasing leaders, making disciples) that explains and fosters health and effectiveness in ministry.
