Course Summary

This course unit is an introduction to the practice of youth ministry.  It seeks to encourage students to think differently about how best to minister to this post-modern generation.  Students will be introduced to ideas and principles applicable to many different contexts and given tools to evaluate and implement these principles.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this unit students will be able to:

1. Determine the nature and strategic task of youth ministry within the church

2. Explain the connection and relevance of youth ministry to the ministry of the local church

3. Critique the effectiveness of various models of youth ministry for a given local setting

4. Analyse the current context of a selected group of youth with a view to establishing the vision and goals of an effective youth ministry

  5. Creatively apply a selected youth ministry model to effectively reach and minister to the youth 

       of a given context, whether real or imagined.
